Recovery is a pattern, not a spot.

When an injury heals, the pain often doesn’t leave with it. Other muscles take over the work, movement patterns shift, and months later the ache shows up somewhere else — a shoulder that hurts after a knee injury, a low back that took over for a stiff hip. Injury recovery massage can help address those compensation patterns, so the area that was injured — and the areas that have been covering for it — can start moving the way they were meant to.

Carlos Blain is a licensed massage therapist in Fort Lauderdale with about 15 years of experience, training at the Swedish Institute in New York, and a background in physical therapy in Venezuela. That background shapes how he works: he thinks in movement and chains, not just single muscles.

Who this is for

Who injury recovery massage is for.

Injury recovery massage often helps people who are:

  • Coming back from a sports injuryAnd not moving the way you did before it — even after the injury itself has healed.
  • Recovering after surgeryWith your surgeon’s clearance, working to rebuild mobility at a pace your recovery sets.
  • Living with an old injuryOne that still limits training, work or daily movement months or years later.
  • Noticing new aches elsewherePain that appeared in a different area after an injury changed how you move.
How Carlos works

Assessment first. Treatment second.

Every session starts with an assessment, not a menu. Carlos assesses live — contractions, scar tissue, adhesions, front and back chains, and the compensation patterns that connect one area to another, like a foot problem that can contribute to shoulder pain. Tissue is interconnected, and an injury in one place often creates a domino effect somewhere else.

Because the treatment is tailored live to what he finds, you don’t pre-pick a technique — pre-picking one technique can cut results short, because the body may need something different that day. You choose the session length; Carlos applies whatever combination the assessment calls for, at no price difference.

Consultation · 10–15 minutes

Pain, injuries, surgeries, posture, habits and goals give the session its direction.

Live assessment

Tailored treatment · 60–90 minutes

Carlos selects and adjusts techniques around what the consultation and your body reveal, switching methods mid-session as needed — at one time-based price.

Recovery plan

3D anatomy explanation, stretches, exercises and practical home tools help the work continue after the session.

How much does injury recovery massage cost in Fort Lauderdale?
At Carlos Blain LMT, pricing is by time, not technique: in-office sessions are $180 for 60 minutes and $230 for 90 minutes; in-home sessions are $230 for 60 minutes and $310 for 90 minutes. First visits are $20 off, and HSA cards are accepted.
How soon after an injury or surgery can I get a massage?
It depends on the injury and your healing stage. After surgery, wait for your surgeon’s clearance first. Once you are cleared, sessions are paced to your recovery — the work adapts to where you are, not the other way around.
Do I need to choose deep tissue or sports massage for injury recovery?
No. At Carlos’s practice, price is by time, not technique, and the treatment is tailored live based on assessment. You book a session length; the combination of techniques follows what your body needs that day.
Can massage help with pain in a different area than my injury?
Often, yes — it can contribute. After an injury, other muscles compensate, and that extra work can create its own pain over time. Assessing those compensation patterns is a core part of how Carlos works.
How often should I come in during recovery?
That varies with the injury and your goals. Many clients start with a short series of sessions while movement is being rebuilt, then space visits out as function improves. Carlos will talk through a sensible pace at your first session — no packages required.
